Acrylic on Canvas
90 cm x 76 cm
Originally from Montreal, Fiona Ackerman studied painting at Concordia University and completed a BFA at Emily Carr University in 2002. With over 20 solo exhibitions (Canada, USA, Europe, UK and Asia), she has been represented by Galerie Kremers since 2016.
The series of paintings exhibited in her second solo show at GALERIE KREMERS “Glasslands” explores the concept of Garden Heterotopia by the French Philosopher Michel Foucault. Comparable to the gardener the painter combines floral forms and patterns on the canvas which might harmonize or. The balance between tamed order and uncontrolled wildness is the key to the beauty of the composition.
